IPL (Intense-Pulsed Light) Treatments |
|
The
effects of long term sun damage can result in pigmentation, brown spot s and
age spots, increased redness or rough patchy skin that can worsen as
we age. Your skin loses its vibrant healthy glow and natural hydration
and overall can make you look older.
What can you do?
At the
Dermatology & Laser Center of San Antonio,
one of the most popular and effective procedures for treating
sun-damaged or aging skin is IPL (sometimes called photo rejuvenation).
Treatments with the Palomar Starlux IPL system can correct a variety of
benign skin conditions such as give you a fresher, younger look by
improving uneven pigmentation, removing age spots, and diffuse redness.
Below,
we have provided some answers to the questions we commonly hear from our
patients. |

is IPL? |

with no or limited “down time”. At the Dermatology &
Laser Center of San Antonio, Dr. Davis uses the Palomar
Starlux 500 IPL system. |

How many treatments
will I need? |
|
IPL
treatments at the Dermatology & Laser Center of San Antonio are
tailored to
individual patient needs
The number of treatments varies according to the condition being treated
as well as its severity but two to five treatments spaced 4-6 weeks
apart are common. |
|
What should I expect after
treatment? |
|
Some
redness may appear in the area that was treated and may last a day, but
this can be covered with makeup. The skin might become darker and peel
for one to two weeks. You should use a sun block and avoid direct
exposure to the sun after receiving the intense pulsed light (IPL)
treatment. |
