PhotoDerm® VL/PL/HR is a versatile, intense pulsed light source which has been in service at the Dermatology Laser Center of San Antonio since 1996. This unique device produces wavelengths capable of treating a broad variety of conditions, including:

• Leg veins up to 5 mm. in diameter
• Portwine stains in adults and children
• Facial veins
• Redness or mottled pigmentation on the neck (poikiloderma)
• Tattoos
• Liver ("age") spots and other pigmented spots and birthmarks
• Hair removal from almost any part of the body

PhotoDerm® Treatments
PhotoDerm® treatments consist of short bursts of very bright light directly to the skin. This feels like a "snapping rubber band" or brief sting on the skin surface and anesthesia is usually not needed. Computer-driven programs guide the proper wavelengths, energies and pulses. Bruising is minimal and scarring is rare.

A key feature of the PhotoDerm® is the large "spot" size – 8 mm x 35 mm (1/3 x 1 and 1/3 inches). This large spot size makes it possible to treat large areas, such as portwine stains and multiple leg veins, quickly.
